This is Oak tree is a special tree Estimated to be well over 100 years old. Tree FX - Quality Tree Management www.treefx.com.au (our sister company) has been lucky enough to help manage it over the years. The tree was visited recently by a 90 year old women who remembers as a child swinging from its limbs, she remembers the tree being as big then as it is today. Hence the age calculation of 100 years or more. The beauty of this tree is that it is not perfect, in fact there are some quite significant imperfections. The tree is hollow and has some very large wounds and structural issues. However what is really great is how the risks associated with such a significant and aging tree are being managed. The management plan has been implemented to manage targets (pedestrians walking below the tree) and not managing so much the tree itself. Many structural defects in this tree cannot be easily or effectively managed, the beauty is whilst the targets are being protected there is no actual need...

I visited a long time client of ours in Upwey this morning who was preparing to sell her house. She told me that she wanted my advice regarding her garden and specifically her trees.

She wanted someone to "tidy up" the trees and make what ws actually a high maintenance garden look a little less daunting to persepctive buyers. I think this strategy is great. People spend lots of money, presenting the inside of the house well, decluttering, cleaning and painting, and they may even go as far as doing the same on the outside.

But what about the trees?! In my experince trees are devisive, people love them or hate them... but most people are not sure of the cost involved to remove or maintain them. Some people might be scared of them but I think most are cautiious about how it may affect their house (thier most expensive asset) and of course the safety of their family.

Tidying up the garden and trees I strongly believe is an essential part of the sales process. Removing...
